September is back to school
month and this September, our little one started her first term at
school! Because French kindergarten only takes children starting
at the age of 3, we were not able to enrol her in the local
maternelle this year. However, since we felt she would thrive
in a school-type setting (being the social being that she is), we
researched our options and found a brand new bilingual Montessori school
opening 25 minutes away. So far so good! She went off on her
first day without a hitch and seems to have adapted beautifully to the
teachers and new environement.
The weather continued to be
awesome and we enjoyed many more fun activities:
a
great day with Alexa's friend Paul and his mom Lucille at the
Grand-Bornand for the "Au Bonheur des Mômes" festival. The 5-day
outdoor event offers myriad activities and entertainment for
children (music, plays, puppets, clowns, poneys, etc...) and Alexa
enjoyed her first pony ride!
a little escapade to Provence with
Mamina and Opa Hans. We toured the Lubéron and even had the
immense pleasure of attending Laure and Fabien's engagement lunch
and seeing the entire Chabaud Clan.
the village fair - a flea market /
garage sale but mostly a wonderful community moment where the new
generation of Marcellaz mingles with the elders. Our house is
perfectly located in the town center and my muffins, cakes and
cookies drew all-day drop-ins!
a tour of the Knie circus menagerie with
Agnès and Maxime (14 months). Knie is a Swiss institution as
the oldest Swiss circus and the kids loved seeing the animals!
The elephant droppings were a big hit with Alexa as was her second
pony ride!
great times with friends - Alexa's and
ours. Thanks to Facebook, we reconnected with long-lost and
very dear friends from Rochester days - Ole and Maria. It was
an absolute treat to have them come to Marcellaz (even for such a
short time).
