May was busy, busy with a nice mix
of visitors and trips.
Nancy's visit was great!
With her new hip, we were able to explore and do things we would have
never dreamt of doing with her before i.e. walking! We decided on a
trip to Ballenberg, the Swiss open-air museum, in the heart of
Switzerland, where authentically reassembled homes and farm buildings
from centuries past lay nestled in 160+ acres of wooded hills. It is an
awesome place, especially with children and we highly recommend it to
anyone visiting the country.

Mother's day happened to
fall during Nancy's visit so we jumped at the excuse of sharing with her one
of the finest dining experiences in our "neighborhood" - Baud. The
special Mother's Day menu was outstanding and the outdoor covered
terrace ideal. Alexa sat through a 3 1/2h meal like the true French
gastronome that she is!

Thanks to our Italian /
Quebecois friends and neighbors, we spent a fabulous weekend discovering
Turin. Enrico is a native of Torino and, thanks to him, we discovered a cultural
center bursting with beautiful architecture and elegant caffés, a
far cry from the
industrial city it is often thought to be,

Last but not least, May was
the month we discovered the Auvergne! As France's smallest and least
populated region, it is often overlooked but its breakthaking
landscapes and 8000 year-old volcanoes are more than worth the detour.
Our friends Cat and Dave invited us to tag along on a 4-day exploratory
trip of some of the region's highlights. A real treat; and only 4 hours
from Marcellaz! Thanks!
