Where were the first rays of spring sun this Easter??? Certainly not over Marcellaz! Unlike previous years, egg-dying and hunting activities had to take place inside but we were glad that our friends Agnès, Devon and their son Maxime were once again able to join us for our annual Easter celebration. After lunch - a farmer's market sampling of fresh asparagus, new potatoes, fresh berries and lots of Belgian chocolate - we did venture outside for a little digestive ball-kicking ! And so April started without sunshine but with good friends and good food. click top right icon for full screen
Once again, Alexa was off for 2-weeks! After winter break it was now time for Easter vacation.....Heading south is always a good destination and this time it was Basque country with Paul and his mom, Lucille. Although temperatures were still somewhat cool, Alexa and Paul played on the beach (4 beaches in 4 days) and we lunched al fresco on fish and seafood every single day! click top right icon for full screen
We made it back to Marcellaz just before the eruption of the islandic volcano and the mayhem its ash cloud inflicted on the air traffic.....Our dear friends Steve and Stacey and their boys Ethan and Noah were not so lucky and saw their flight from JFK to Geneva cancelled! A great disappointment for all! (Hopefully, we'll see you guys in the fall.) So, we drowned our sorrows in home-made pizza and chocolate fondue at our neighbor's Anne-Marie.......The kids loved it! click top right icon for full screen
How about a weekend in Paris before going back to school? "Oui, oui" says Alexa and off we go to visit Pierre and Virginie in their new address near Montmartre. Awesome location (their under-the-eaves apartment has views of Sacré-Coeur!) and wonderful hosts and tour guides! We spent a great day at the Jardin d'Acclimatation, a 150-year old amusent park in the heart of Paris where Alexa had the time of her life! Check out the pictures of her on the rides.... click top right icon for full screen
And as a special treat, a lightening visit by Mamina and a beautiful day in Annecy.
